Set up:
This following excerpt is from the first novel in a series called “Bond Mates”. These novels are inspired by my wolf shifter world from the Wolf Within series. However, unlike the Wolf Within series which focuses on one couple who solve mysteries and disputes within the Great Pack, the Bond Mates series will focus on one couple per book in a paranormal romance with an HEA.
Working Title: Making It in Maplefair
Angus soaped himself up and rubbed vigorously. He belted out an old Scottish tune without thinking about it. Something about water pelting his skin made him sing.
“On the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond!” he bellowed as he stepped onto the bathmat and scrubbed his sopping hair with a towel. One look at his dirty clothes and he realized he’d neglected to bring clean ones with him. No matter. His dufflebag was just across the hall.
He wrapped the towel around his waist and strode into the hallway singing, “Oh, you take the high road and I’ll take the low road--”
“And I’ll get to Scotland afore ye!” sang a woman’s voice in a pleasing treble several octaves above his bass roar.
An inarticulate babble of sound burst from his mouth, and he checked his forward motion in the doorway to his bedroom so abruptly his damned towel slipped.
Lights blazed, illuminating Jordan Teague sitting in the rocker by the window.
Angus made a futile grab for the slipping towel and missed. It slithered down his legs to fall on his feet. Goddamn it.
Jordan’s eyes bulged, and damned if the woman didn’t giggle.
“Well, that’s a savage blow to my ego.” Angus stooped to snatch up the bastard towel. “Nobody’s ever snickered at my family jewels before. Sorry to disappoint.”
Jordan made a sound as if she might be strangling on her laughter, and he hoped she was. Damned nervy to laugh at his misfortune. Who could blame him for jumping in shock? He’d thought he’d been alone.
“I’m trying not to look at your – family jewels,” she said, theatrically averting her gaze as he hastily tied on the towel. “I was laughing at the look on your face. Didn’t expect to see me in here, did you?"

I love humor in a story and this excerpt put a smile on my face. Amy mentioned her Wolf Within series and I am a huge, huge fan of this series. I've read all seven books in it and want more. Lucky for you, the first book in the series is on sale for just 99¢ through the end of January.
