I hope you enjoy this selection. Here's the set up: Sera has just met Logan for the first time and explained to him her chocolate shop is not open for business yet. Cheers and Happy New Year to you all.

He uncurled his fingers, his smile bright and cheerful. He didn’t look at all embarrassed to be where he shouldn’t be. Shoving his hand in his pocket, Logan said, “I know. I’m the president of the Main Street Merchants Association. That makes me the official greeting committee. Consider this your welcome to the neighborhood.”
“We have an association?”
“Sure do. You’re in it just by having a shop on this street.”
“Oh. So, you have a business around here, too?”
He pointed out the windows to the storefront across the street. “I own Words On A Shirt.”
That explained his T-shirt. “Well, it’s nice to meet one of my neighbors.”
“The pleasure is all mine. You’re opening a candy store?” Logan swept his gaze over her body.
As much as she wanted to, she resisted the urge to let her gaze roam his body in the same cheeky fashion. “Cocoa Sera isn’t a candy store. I make artisan chocolates.”
“Sound like candy to me.” Crossing his arms over his chest, he hid the dragon tat. “We already have a chocolate shop in the area. I’m surprise you managed to swing a lease. It’s a gamble for the developer to bring in competition. I bet old Bob Taggert at The Chocolate Factory is not happy about you opening.”
A cold dose of reason dumped ice cubes over her, drenching her enthusiasm for her new business. Gamble is a four-letter word as far as she was concerned. “The owners had made a calculated business decision based on fact. My confections won’t compete with the fare at The Chocolate Factory. Let’s just call mine designer sweets.” She slipped behind the counter and picked up and box of cleaning supplies. She clutched it against her chest. “Besides, my retail operation will be very small. Online orders will drive my business.”
She didn’t have time for this today. As gorgeous and charming as Logan Hamilton might be, she had work to do.
“What, no chocolate suckers or toffee bars?” He laid his hand on the edge of the cardboard container, as if he meant to take it from her.
She shook her head and shifted the box away from him. “It’s okay. I’ve got it. And no, I don’t make chocolate suckers. What I offer combines science and art in one sweet treat.”
