Jo Richardson is the author of this week's questions. Just coming off a three week retreat to focus on my writing, I loved these.
How often do you write? I write at least five days a week. It isn't always adding words to my work in progress though. I count blog posts, editing and revising as writing. Some days, just to make myself feel better about not adding more words, I let myself count my marketing time (yeah, that includes Facebook, she adds sheepishly). But if Karl Urban came along and told me to get busy, I'd write. And drool. On my keyboard. Not cool at all. (By the way - you can make your own cool teasers like this one I made on Picmonkey)
Do you think it’s important to your craft to write as much as you can, and as often as you can?
Not necessarily. I know I absolutely have to write when the muse smacks me between the shoulder blades and forces me into the chair. There's no denying that imp. But if I'm not feeling the words, or they just won't come, I take it as a sign from my brain that I need to give the story time to percolate. As long as I'm consistently writing, and moving the story forward, that's the most important thing.
What is your opinion on the saying “if you don’t write every day, you’re not a writer"? Balderdash! Writing everyday does not a writer make. Ability to bring those words to life is what makes a writer.
That's it for me today. Thank you so much for dropping by for this weeks installment of #LoveWriteChat. Be sure to keep hopping away. Your next stop is the always delightful Elizabeth Janette.
