I love this excerpt, because Roger opens gifts the way I do - fast and reckless.

He grabbed the gift, ripping off the red and white candy cane paper with one swipe. “It’s awfully light. What did you get me?” He shook the container, and held it to his ear. “Is it the Magic Mouse from Apple? But in a big box to throw me off?” The eagerness in his voice made her stomach drop. She’d had no idea that’s what he really wanted.
“Uhhh, no. That’s not what this one is.” She forced a smile. He’d never said anything about a mouse before. Damn. Why hadn’t she made him give her a Christmas list?
Roger snapped the tape on the lid and opened it. His brows furrowed and little lines around his eyes tightened. “It’s empty.”
“I know.” She smiled encouragingly at him.
“I don’t understand.” He set the box to the side and leaned away from her.
“What was inside is now in the other room.”
He cocked his head. “Then why did I have to open the box?”
“’Cause it’s your present, and you had to unwrap something, but I wanted it…all ready for you.”
His worry lines eased.
“Come on.” Pam stood then pulled him to his feet. Had he thought she’d been playing a cruel joke on him? “I would never do that.”
“Do what, babe?”
“Play a joke on you like that. Give you a real empty box.” She put her arms around him, holding tight. “I love you, Roger.”
“I love you too, Pam.” He leaned against her and relaxed. “So where’s this mystery present?”
“This way.” Suddenly excited anew, she grabbed his hand and led him into the bedroom where candlelight flickered.
“There.” She motioned to the bed, covers turned back. Gazing into his face, she eagerly awaited his reaction.
He cut his eyes to her and raised an eyebrow. “The bed is new?”
“Ugh.” She blew out an exasperated breath. He was going to be dense again. “Roger. No.” She pointed at the bed again.
He peered at it, then under it. “You had an electric vibrator installed?”
She smacked his arm and he burst out laughing.
“The sheets, Roger, look at the sheets! Feel the sheets!” She dragged him over to the double bed, positioned in the center of the room, headboard against the outside wall. He ran his hands over the glistening material.
“You got satin sheets?”
“Red satin sheets. Very old-style Hollywood. And sexy.” She couldn’t wait any longer. “Merry Christmas, Roger!” She grabbed his head and planted a kiss on him, a long, slow kiss designed to make Little Roger jump again. She slipped her arms around his neck and pulled herself up, rubbing against the spot where a definite hardness was forming. “Wanna try them out?”
